For 85 years, the New York Self-Insurers Association (NYSIA), a not-for-profit organization, has served its member businesses by keeping them informed of important developments in the increasingly complex area of self-insurance, while promoting and protecting their vital interests.

Through an active, cooperative information network, NYSIA keeps members aware of pending legislation, changes in the law, new regulations, and other issues relating to self-insurance. In addition, NYSIA represents you at legislative hearings and conferences, acting as your vocal and vigorous advocate on matters pertaining to the creation, passage and administration of relevant laws. We also advocate for administrative improvements with the Workers’ Compensation Board.

Why join NYSIA?

The timely exchange of accurate information in the evolving areas of the Workers’ Compensation Law and self-insurance is crucial, and there is no more effective, supportive organization than NYSIA to help you navigate the most difficult issues and make the best choices for your business.

As a member of NYSIA, your concerns will be voiced to those involved in the legislative process. You’ll have the opportunity to network with other members, sharing solutions and expertise on everything from defending cases, to legislative involvement, to managing claim filings with the state. Additionally, NYSIA members are kept current on the very latest terms, procedures and treatments for which their employees might be eligible.

NYSIA is a member of the National Council of Self-Insurers, an organization comprised of other state associations of self-insurers and many national corporations.

NYSIA is a very active and substantial part of the Workers’ Compensation community by having representatives on the following: Administrative Practice & Procedures Committee, WCB Advisory Committee for Self-Insurance, Medical Fee Schedule Committee and Special Funds Conservation Committee, among others.

With NYSIA, you’ll be the first to know what’s ahead, so you can plan for change, instead of reacting to it. That’s an advantage every self-insuring company should have. It’s also why over 7,000 companies in New York State belong to self-insurance cooperatives. It’s an invaluable, comprehensive network, and as a member, you have access to it.
